Most IPTV services sell the same thing in several lengths: 1, 3, 6 and 12 months. The longer you commit, the less you pay per month. The question is whether the saving is worth giving up flexibility.

This guide works through the numbers with our own prices and gives you a quick way to decide. It's part of our IPTV buyer's guide.

Quick answer

A yearly IPTV plan is cheaper per month; a monthly plan is more flexible. With our one-device plans, 12 months costs €69 instead of €240 at the monthly rate — a 71% saving. Choose monthly to test a service, 3–6 months for a middle ground, and 12 months once you're sure.

The savings, worked out

Compared with paying the 1-month price for every month, here's what each longer plan saves:

1-device plans: saving vs paying monthly
PlanPricePaying monthly would costSaving
3 months€36€60€24 (40%)
6 months€45€120€75 (63%)
12 months€69€240€171 (71%)
2-device plans: saving vs paying monthly
PlanPricePaying monthly would costSaving
3 months€60€105€45 (43%)
6 months€85€210€125 (60%)
12 months€130€420€290 (69%)

When a monthly plan makes sense

  • You're trying IPTV for the first time and want to check it on your devices.
  • You only want it for a specific period — a tournament, a holiday at home.
  • You're not sure yet whether you need one connection or two — see how multi-screen IPTV works.

A monthly plan is the most expensive per month, but it's the lowest commitment. Use it to run through our first-week test checklist.

When a yearly plan makes sense

  • IPTV is already working well on all your devices.
  • You watch regularly throughout the year.
  • You want the lowest monthly cost and fewer renewals to remember.

The trade-off is commitment: you pay for the full year upfront. Make sure your devices, home network and plan size are settled first.

The middle ground: 3 or 6 months

If you're mostly confident but want to keep options open, 3 or 6 months is a sensible compromise. A 6-month one-device plan works out at €7.50 per month — much closer to the yearly rate than the monthly one, with half the commitment.

A simple way to decide

  1. Never used IPTV on your devices?

Start with 1 month and test thoroughly.

  2. Tested and happy, but plans may change?

    Choose 3 or 6 months.

  3. Tested, happy and watching all year?

Choose 12 months for the lowest monthly cost.

Also decide on connections before committing for long — see 1 device or 2?. You can compare every option side by side in our pricing section.

Monthly vs yearly IPTV subscription: frequently asked questions

With our one-device plans, 12 months costs €69 instead of €240 at the monthly rate — a saving of €171, or 71%.

Yes. Many people start with a shorter plan to test, then choose a longer plan at renewal.

It's a strong middle ground. A one-device 6-month plan is €45, or €7.50 per month — a 63% saving versus paying monthly.

Conclusion

Longer plans save the most, but only once you know the service suits your devices and viewing. Test first, then lock in the lower monthly cost.
